Our Story

2M Data Systems was founded in the late 1970s by Brian Mendenhall and Lynn Manhart with the vision of creating an accounting software for schools. They originally developed the software on a Radio Shack Model II computer to serve the school district where Brian worked.

As word spread about their innovative fund accounting system, more schools in Idaho became interested. To meet this growing demand, they transitioned the software to run on Burroughs B21 and B22 computers in the early 1980s. Eventually they updated the software to run on Windows-based computers.

Over the years, Brian and Lynn expanded the software’s capabilities and client base, serving schools across Idaho as well as housing authorities, cities, and other organizations in need of fund accounting solutions.

In August 2023, 2M Data Systems announced a partnership with stakeholders in the school finance industry to form a new company, i2m, which is managed by a team of professionals with backgrounds in school finance, software development, and customer support.

Today i2m provides powerful yet affordable fund accounting software to schools across Idaho. We are committed to the mission and vision started over 40 years ago: maximizing user-friendliness, delivering personalized service and support, and making school finance management easier.
